The Mountains Call My Name

During the summer of 2016 I had the mildly insane idea to cycle 1500kms through the North Indian Himalayas, carrying all the equipment necessary to survive, my camera and an overly heavy bag of film. My theory was this, that with vulnerability will come true interactions with the people and environment in this truly harsh and isolated place. Often going days without any communication with anybody, the relationships that formed with those few people I met and the emotions during the periods of isolation resulted in this body of photographic work.

I’m still not sure what called me to these remote parts of the world, I just know that at that time, after 2 years of city life, that the mountains were calling my name.
